Riverside Study
Riverside Study is a landscape renovation on the bank of the Liwa River in Shanghai, China. The site was originally a campus warehouse, which was converted into a study. The design considers the architecture, terrain and light, and draws elements from the school badge, the red brick building and the natural growth of plants. A sunken square with soft yellow wooden steps forms seating for rest. The walks along the river are paved with gray stone. Large reflective glass walls protect the privacy of the interior and connect inside and outside.
Riverside Study Landscape Renovation by Shanghai Lacime Design Co. Ltd. was recognized as an exceptional representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Riverside Study Landscape Renovation won the Golden A' Design Award in Landscape Planning and Garden Design in 2020. The A' Landscape Planning and Garden Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design competition which honors exceptional design of landscape designs, public parks, residential gardens, urban plazas, campus designs, green roofs, waterfront developments, Eco-Parks, botanical gardens and more.
